Alongside the core services we provide at The Barn, Tadcaster and Rural is active in the community helping to deliver a range of initiatives which target key issues, from poverty relief through to helping the community respond to the ongoing challenges presented by flooding. Find out more below and if you would like to get involved in any of these projects, just get in touch in the usual way.
Baby Bank
Little Helping Hands is our Baby Bank, providing a free service to new and recent parents in the area. We collect clothing items and essentials, alongside pre loved cradles, strollers and many other items besides – and these are made available on the last saturday of each month for collection. Unfortunately at present we cannot deliver items but anyone in need can get in contact and request items – we can then put a call out!
Contact us at The Barn or via our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/LittlehelpinghandsBabybank

Foodbank
In January 2023 we took on the operation of Tadcaster’s Foodbank from the Salvation Army and later that year we formally partnered with the Wetherby and District Foodbank, an organisation supported under the Trussell Trust umbrella. Today, our volunteers provide services to those in need of emergency food and other household items.
In addition, we host a drop in Cafe every Wednesday during term time at the Barn 10.00am – 12.30pm for anyone in need to come and discuss their requirements, access additional advice on things like benefits, staying warm in winter – or just to share company and a cuppa. TGS Uniform Recycling
Now in its 3rd year of operation, this ‘upcycling’project benefits families in our local secondary school community. In order for this scheme to work we need donations of unwanted uniform to recycle.
The scheme is led by The Barn and Tadcrafters, and in partnership with Tadcaster Grammar school and simply seeks to take in old uniforms and offer them to students at no cost as a way of recycling clothing.
Please bag up any items your student may have grown out of and drop off at The Barn.
Upcycled uniforms are available to collect during the summer holidays but feel free to contact David, davidgluck@tadcasterandrural.co.uk / 07905 766831 if you have an emergency need at any time of the year!
